450g/1 lb strong bread flour
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
60ml/2 fl.oz natural yogurt
1 sachet dried yeast
¾ cup lukewarm water
Clarified butter
- Dissolve the yeast in some lukewarm water
- Warm the flour in the microwave
- Put the flour, salt and sugar in a large bowl
- Mix well
- Add the yogurt and yeast mixture
- Mix well
- Knead till it becomes a soft, sticky dough
- Leave to stand covered for 3-4 hours
- With oiled hands, knead the dough a little more
- Divide it into 6 pieces
- Roll each ball in more flour to make it easier to work
- Roll each one out to a large rectangle about ¼“ thick
- Lightly moisten the hands to lay naan on baking sheets
- Bake in the oven pre-heated to maximum for 3 – 4 minutes or fry in a very hot frying pan
- Naans should be puffed up
- Remove from oven
- Brush each naan with clarified butter to serve
